CHIRU PROMISS TELANGANA
January 3rd 2009 - HYDERABAD: The Praja Rajyam Party found itself in a piquant situation on Friday when its president K. Chiranjeevi had to clarify that spokesman Katti Padma Rao’s statement that the party was in favour of a separate Telangana was the official policy.
On Friday afternoon, Mr. Rao categorically said at a press conference that if voted to power, it would move a resolution in the Assembly favouring a separate Telangana State.
He was only defending the Yuva Rajyam (Youth Wing of Praja Rajyam) president Pawan Kalyan who drew flak recently when he asked the Government to clear its stand on Telangana.
When repeatedly asked about how the party could go about the process of facilitating the formation of a separate State, he said they would definitely do what they could on the matter, depending on the majority they got in the general elections, at the State and the Centre.
Later, when presspersons asked Praja Rajyam president K. Chiranjeevi to expand on his party’s standpoint on the issue, he said he had all along been saying he would do whatever the people wanted.
When asked again, he said the terminology used by different leaders in the same leader could be different and that it did not mean any distortion in the party’s stand.
When asked if Mr. Pawan Kalyan’s criticism and the manner in which he hit out at Congress leaders, meant the Praja Rajyam was giving the go-by to ‘Gandhigiri’, Mr. Chiranjeevi said it was not so. “He is young and enthusiastic. We should only go by what he meant ”, he added. Courtesy: The Hindu

TDP AND TRS
Last Updated: Tuesday, 06 January , 2009, 14:39
Hyderabad: The Telangana Rashtra Samiti (TRS) appears all set to join the 'grand alliance', headed by Andhra Pradesh's main opposition Telugu Desam Party (TDP) and including the Left parties, for the ensuing elections to the assembly and the Lok Sabha.
In a move that could change political equations in the state, TRS chief K. Chandrasekhara Rao said his party had come closer to the TDP-led alliance. The Communist Party of India (CPI) and Communist Party of India-Marxist (CPI-M) are the other partners in the 'grand alliance', which has already set the alarm bells ringing in the ruling Congress party.
KCR, as the TRS leader is popularly known, told reporters at his residence Monday night that a joint announcement on the electoral alliance would be made after the Sankranti festival next week. Also present were leaders of the TDP, the CPI and the CPI-M.

BORN TO ACHIEVE
MAN IS BORN TO ACHIEVE LIFE,
BUT IT ALL DEPENDS ON HIM.
HE CAN MISS IT.
HE CAN GO ON BREATHING,
HE CAN GO ON MOVING TOWARDS THE GRAVE --
BUT THIS IS NOT LIFE.
SO FIRST WE HAVE TO UNDERSTAND
WHAT I MEAN BY 'LIFE'.
IT MUST NOT BE SIMPLY GROWING OLD.
IT MUST BE GROWING UP.
AND THESE ARE TWO DIFFERENT THINGS.
GROWING OLD,
ANY ANIMAL IS CAPABLE OF.
GROWING UP IS THE PREROGATIVE OF HUMAN BEINGS.
ONLY A FEW CLAIM THE RIGHT.
GROWING UP MEANS MOVING EVERY
MOVEMENT DEEPER INTO THE PRINCIPLE OF LIFE;
IT MEANS GOING FARTHER AWAY FROM DEATH
NOT TOWARDS DEATH.
THE DEEPER YOU GO INTO LIFE,
THE MORE YOU UNDERSTAND
THE IMMORTALITY WITHIN YOU.
YOU ARE MOVING AWAY FORM DEATH;
A MOMENT COMES
WHEN YOU CAN SEE THAT DEATH IS NOTHING
BUT CHANGING CLOTHES,
OR CHANGING HOUSE,
CHANGING FORMS -- NOTHING DIES, NOTHING CAN DIE.
DEATH IS THE GREATEST ILLUSION THERE IS.
FOR GROWING UP,
JUST WATCH A TREE. AS THE TREE GROWS UP,
ITS ROOTS ARE GROWING DOWN, DEEPER.
THERE IS A BALANCE :
THE HIGHER THE TREE GOES THE DEEPER IS THE ROOTS
ONE HUNDRED & FIFTY FEET HIGH WITH SMALL ROOTS;
THEY COULD NOT SUPPORT SUCH A HUGE TREE.
IN LIFE, GROWING UP MEANS GROWING DEEP WITHIN YOURSELF -
- THAT'S WHERE YOUR ROOTS ARE.
BUT IT ALL DEPENDS ON HIM.
HE CAN MISS IT.

SOCIAL JUSTICE
What is Social Justice?
The term social justice was first used in 1840 by a Sicilian priest, Luigi Taparelli d\'Azeglio, and given prominence by Antonio Rosmini Serbati in La Costitutione Civile Secondo la Giustizia Sociale in 1848. It has also enjoyed a significant audience among theorists since John Rawls book. A Theory of Justice has used it as a pseudonym of distributive justice. The concept of social justice is a revolutionary concept which provides meaning and significance to life and makes the rule of law dynamic. When Indian society seeks to meet the challenge of socio-economic inequality by its legislation and with the assistance of the rule of law, it seeks to achieve economic justice without any violent conflict. The ideal of a welfare state postulates unceasing pursuit of the doctrine of social justice. That is the significance and importance of the concept of social justice in the Indian context of today. The idea of welfare state is that the claims of social justice must be treated as cardinal and paramount. Social justice is not a blind concept or a preposterous dogma. It seeks to do justice to all the citizen of the state. Democracy, therefore, must not show excess of valour by imposing unnecessary legislative regulations and prohibitions, in the same way as they must not show timidity in attacking the problem of inequality by refusing the past the necessary and reasonable regulatory measures at all. Constant endeavour has to be made to sustain individual freedom and liberty and subject them to reasonable regulation and control as to achieve socio-economic justice. Social justice must be achieved by adopting necessary and reasonable measures. That, shortly stated, is the concept of social justice and its implications. Citizens zealous of their individual freedom and liberty must co-operate with democracy which seeks to regulate freedom and liberty in the interest of social good, but they must be able to resist the imposition of any restraints on individual liberty and freedom which are not rationally and reasonably required in the interests of public good, in a democratic way. It is in the light of these difficult times that the rule of law comes into operation and the judges have to play their role without fear or favour, uninfluenced by any considerations of dogma or isms. The term social justice is a blanket term so as to include both social justice and economic justice

TELANGANA IN 100 DAYS
BJP leader Advani promises Telangana within 100 days in power
Senior Bharatiya Janata Party leader Lal Krishna Advani has promised to introduce a Bill for carving out separate Telangana State within 100 days if the National Democratic Alliance was voted back to power.
Betrayal: Criticising the Congress and the TRS for betraying the Telangana people after securing their mandate for creating a separate State. Mr. Advani urged the people to give the requisite majority to the NDA if they wanted Telangana.
Credibility: Addressing a huge public meeting as part of the BJP’s ‘Vijay Sankalp Yatra’ at the Parade Grounds here on Thursday, Mr. Advani cited the presence of Left-wing balladeer Gadar at the meeting as evidence to show that BJP alone had the credibility on the Telangana issue.
Small States: Recalling the BJP’s known stand favouring smaller States for effective administration, he said Telangana would have become a reality had the parties, now supporting the cause, backed the NDA then.
Advani said the BJP's state unit had sent a proposal for Telangana to the then NDA Government but it could not act on it due to the alliance it had with the Telugu Desam Party (TDP), which was then against bifurcation of the state.
He alleged the UPA Government had surrendered before terrorism and had compromised with terrorists. He criticised Prime Minister Manmohan Singh for terming Pakistan a victim of terrorism. "India has been telling the world that Pakistan is responsible for terrorism but Mr Manmohan Singh has given a certificate that like India, Pakistan is also a victim of terrorism," he said.

SPEAKER'S UN RULING
Balancing act by Speaker kicks up a row
Assembly Speaker KR Suresh Reddy on Monday delivering his balanced verdict accepted the resignations of six TRS rebel MLAs and disqualified three rebel MLAs under 2(1)(a) of the 10th Schedule of Anti-Defection Act, 1986. A petition seeking disqualification of the nine MLAs, voting against the party whip in the AP Legislature Council election, had been pending with the Speaker for almost two years.
Speaking to media persons, Speaker, Suresh Reddy said there was no specific rule that he should not accept resignations submitted by the legislators even when a disqualification petition was pending. He added that that he did a balancing act in giving the verdict in accordance with the Constitutional spirit. He should not be blamed for delay in giving judgment on the petitions as 22 sittings were held and reasonable opportunity was given to everyone to put forth their case.
The verdict of the Speaker would not have any impact on the six MLAs S Santosh Reddy, B Sararani, G Mukunda Reddy, K Lingaiah, D Srinivasa Rao and Narayana Rao Patel as their resignations were already accepted. The three who faced disqualifications are M Satyanarayana Reddy, T Jayaprakash Reddy and S Babu Rao. The Speaker felt the need of a Constitutional amendment to ensure that action under Anti-Defection Law applied even to those who tendered resignations prior to the judgment.
